Export chats from Zendesk.
About ten minutes for an admin. Everything happens inside Zendesk; nothing is installed. If your instance is old or heavily customised and the buttons look different, ping us and we'll do it together.
Send raw. We anonymise on receipt. Don't strip personal data on your side unless your policy requires it — the report is better when we can see repeat-contact patterns before hashing. Full anonymisation guarantee in the data note.
What we need
- Conversations, not tickets. Full message threads for chat and messaging channels — the player's messages and the agent's replies, in order, with timestamps.
- Period: 30 days minimum. 90 days is better if your load is seasonal.
- Format: JSON preferred (Zendesk's default). CSV is fine too if that's easier for you.
- Channels: Chat and Messaging. Email tickets are welcome too if you want them included; say so in the form.
Sign in as an admin
You need Zendesk admin privileges. Go to your Zendesk URL (something like yourbrand.zendesk.com) and open the Admin Centre from the sidebar (the gear icon).
Open Account → Tools → Reports
In the Admin Centre, expand Account in the left menu, then click Tools, then Reports. This is where full-account exports live.
On instances that still use the classic panel: Settings → Account → Tools → Export. The screen is the same either way.
Request a full export
Under Export, pick JSON (recommended) or CSV. Choose Full export if this is your first time, or a date-ranged export limited to the last 30–90 days if you'd rather not pull the whole history.
Tick the tickets and ticket comments objects. Chat and messaging conversations are stored as ticket comments in Zendesk, so both are needed. If you have the Chat product on a separate contract, use step 5.
Wait for the download link
Zendesk emails a download link to your admin address when the export is ready — usually within an hour for a mid-size account, longer for larger histories. The link is a single ZIP archive; don't unpack it, just upload the ZIP to the private link we sent you.
Password-protect the ZIP if your policy requires it (Windows or macOS can do this from the right-click menu). Send us the password in a separate email.
If you use standalone Zendesk Chat
If Chat is on the old standalone product rather than the modern messaging suite, the export lives in a different place: open Chat → Settings → Account → Data export → Chats. Same date range guidance. The output is a CSV per day; zip the folder and upload the ZIP.
Common questions
The export is huge. Can I limit it?
Yes — either shorten the date range in step 3, or filter by group/brand if you only want the load from one operator. Both are fine. We'd rather have 30 clean days than 12 messy months.
We're on Enterprise with a data residency add-on.
The export still comes from the same screen. Residency doesn't affect this step; we accept the same file either way and store it in the EU.
We removed tickets older than a year for retention reasons.
Whatever you have is fine. Pass along a note in the form ("we only keep 60 days") so we set expectations for what the report can and can't say about seasonality.
